Bulgaria Hosts First European Junior Olympiad In Informatics.

The capital of Sofia hosted EJOI 2017, the first Olympiad for young developers, from September 7 to 13. Its gold sponsor was America for Bulgaria Foundation as it believes Bulgaria’s young Olympic scientists are a promise for a better future of the country.

Bulgaria founded this competition for young developers from EU member and candidate states. Each country participates with a team of four students up to 16 years of age.

EJOI provides a unique opportunity for young people to showcase their IT skills, share knowledge, meet new friends from all over Europe and learn more about Bulgaria.

The EJOI was launched on the initiative of Professor Krassimir Manev, President of the International Olympiad in Informatics. Patrons of the event are Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, EU Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, Tibor Navracić and EU Commissioner for Digitization, Maria Gabriel. The institutional partners are the Ministry of Education and Science, the City of Sofia and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

Bulgaria ranks sixth worldwide in the total number of international informatics Olympiad medals, with Hristo Venev second worldwide in the individual rankings.
