English Competitions, Debates, Literary Essays, Poetry, Charity And Volunteer Initiatives, Sports Events, Concerts And More… OH, MY!

Since 2009, America for Bulgaria Foundation and the Fulbright Bulgarian-American Education Exchange Commission have enabled students from language-focused high schools across the country to improve their English with American teachers. In addition to English, students and teachers are learning to help their community through various charity initiatives and cultural events. English competitions, debates, literary essays and poetry, charity causes, volunteer initiatives, sports celebrations and concerts … and the school year is over in a blur of activity!

Eight years ago, we started with ten US Fulbright teachers. This year, 30 American teachers will enter the classrooms of language schools in Blagoevgrad, Bourgas, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Vidin, Vratsa, Gabrovo, Gotse Delchev, Dimitrovgrad, Dobrich, Kardzhali, Kyustendil, Lovech, Montana, Razgrad, Rousse, Silistra, Sofia, Stara Zagora, Haskovo and Shumen.

Morgan Murphy tells us about the challenges and satisfaction of teaching English in Pleven HERE.
