Thank you for visiting our website. We, the America for Bulgaria Foundation (“the Foundation”, “we”, “our” or “us”), take your privacy seriously. We are committed to protecting the privacy of any personal information you give us. We will comply with the Bulgarian Personal Data Protection Act and all applicable regulations. We are registered on the public register of data controllers maintained by the Commission for Protection of Personal Data in Bulgaria.

We ask that you take the time to read this Privacy Policy carefully.  It explains a number of things including, for example, what personal information we collect on our website and the purposes for which we may use or disclose personal information.  By using www.us4bg.org (the “Website”), however the Website is accessed and/or used by you (whether via personal computers, mobile devices or otherwise), you’ll be confirming that you have read and understood and agree to this Privacy Policy. 

When submitting a grant inquiry or application to the Website, you will be asked to provide certain information, such as name, address, phone, email, and title.  If you do not provide us with this information, we will be unable to assess your grant inquiry or application, and will not be able to award any grant to you, and subsequently, we will not be able to enter into a grant agreement with you.

If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Website or submit the personal information required by us to assess any grant inquiry or application.

We may modify or amend this Privacy Policy from time to time without notice.  If we do, the most current version will always be available on our Website and, where appropriate, notified to you by e-mail. Please check back frequently to see any updates or changes to this Privacy Policy.  We will indicate at the top of this Privacy Policy when it was last updated.

Please be advised that the practices described in this Privacy Policy apply only to information gathered online at our Website.  They do not apply to information that you may submit to us offline or to websites maintained by other companies or organizations to which we may link.

What Information Do We Collect About You?

We will collect and process the following information about you:

How and Why We Collect Your Information?

As a general matter, you can browse the Website without submitting your personal information to usHowever, there are a number of circumstances in which you may need to provide us with your personal information. 

We collect your personal information in the following ways:

  • When you make inquiries regarding grant opportunities
  • When you submit an application for a prospective grant;
  • When you sign up to receive e-mail newsletters from us;
  • When you participate in surveys, panels, or research;
  • When you register for and participate in our programs, activities, initiatives, and events;
  • When you request information or assistance;
  • When you respond to Foundation inquiries as we process your grant application;
  • In conjunction with your employment inquiries or applications;
  • When you participate with social media accounts involving Foundation properties;

  • In conjunction with investigations into any activity that may violate the law or the Website’s terms and conditions;

How Do We Use Your Information?

Our primary reason for collecting your information is to personalize your visits to the Website, to carry out our obligations arising from any contracts entered into between you and us and to notify you about changes to our organization and services.  In addition, we use your personal information in the following ways:

Where We Store Your Information

You expressly agree to our information practices, including the collection, use, processing, and sharing of your information as described in this Privacy Policy, as well as the transfer and processing of your information to Amazon Web Service’s data servers in Germany and other countries where we have or use facilities, service providers, or partners, regardless of where in the world you use our Website (including, but not limited to, Bulgaria).  You acknowledge that the laws, regulations, and standards of the country in which your information is stored or processed may be different from those of your own country.

We won't retain your personal information for longer than is reasonably necessary or required by law.

How Do We Protect Your Information?

The Foundation is serious about guarding the security of your personal information.  We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.  When you register your bank account information with us to enable us to pay grant proceeds, it will be stored on our secure servers.  In addition, we have strict security procedures covering the storage and disclosure of your information in order to prevent unauthorized access and to comply with the Bulgarian Personal Data Protection Act and all applicable regulations.  This means that sometimes we may ask you for proof of identity before disclosing any personal information to you.

All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers.  Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of our site, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential.  We ask you not to share a password with anyone.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure.  Although we will do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your information transmitted to our site; any transmission is at your own risk.  Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorized access.

Disclosure of Your Personal Information

The Foundation is committed to applying the highest standards of ethical and lawful practices in all our operations and is dedicated to protecting the privacy of all visitors to our Website.  Except as set out below, we will not sell, give away, or permit anyone outside the Foundation to use or access your personal information.

You agree that we have the right to share your personal information with selected third parties, including: (i) partners, suppliers and sub-contractors for the performance of any contract we enter into with them or you (including Amazon Web Services who provides data hosting and storage services to us); and (ii) analytics and search engine providers that assist us in the improvement and optimization of our Website.  These third parties are contractually obligated to maintain the confidentiality and security of any personal information collected from the Website.  They are restricted from using, selling, distributing, or altering this information in any way other than to provide the requested services to us.

We will disclose your personal information in the cases and under the conditions prescribed by law.

Your Rights

You have the right at any time to access the information held about you. Cookie Policy
